 Central Indiana Conference softball teams went 3-0 in high school games
Wednesday.
At Alexandria, the host Lady Tigers evened their record at 1-1 with a 7-3
conquest of Wes-Del.
At Madison-Grant, the Lady Argylls opened the season with a 2-1 victory over
Marion.
At Mississinewa, the Lady Indians needed eight innings to edge Wapahani 1-0.
ALEXANDRIA 7, WES-DEL 3
Alexandria trailed 1-0 when it came to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning,
then plated six runs to pull away from Wes-Del.
Maira King went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Tigers, with a single, double
and triple. Kylie Bischoff singled twice and Ashley Wilson came through with a
pinch-hit, run-scoring single.
On the mound, Joni Dent allowed only one run in six innings.
Alexandria (1-1) entertains Cowan today.
MADISON-GRANT 2, MARION 1
FAIRMOUNT — A Marion throwing error in the fifth inning gave Madison-Grant the
go-ahead run. The Lady Argylls prevailed despite getting only two hits against
Marion pitchers Tyann Brewer and Bethany Harrell.
M-G’s Dana Runyan doubled and Sam Fields singled.
For Marion, Katie Smith went 2-for-3 and had an RBI and Rianne Aguilar was
2-for-3.
Madison-Grant plays in Saturday’s Pendleton Heights Invitational.
At 9 a.m. at the Pendleton Park diamond, Madison-Grant faces South Bend Adams.
At 11 a.m. at the park, South Bend Washington meets Lake Central.
Meanwhile at the high school, Pendleton Heights faces Jennings County at 9 a.m.,
then at 11 Dekalb meets Chesterton.
Winners-bracket games will be played throughout the day at the high school,
losers-bracket games at the park.
The championship will be played at 7 p.m. at the high school.
MISSISSINEWA 1, WAPAHANI 0
GAS CITY — In the eighth inning, Katie Jones doubled and Danielle Jochem drew
a walk. Tori Stanley bunted them to second and third and Nicole Kilgore’s single
drove home the only run.
Ashlea Nash pitched all eight innings for the Lady Indians. She allowed three
hits while striking out 20 and walking one.
Mississinewa plays Saturday at Lewis Cass.
